Scholastic Framework

City International School, Pune, is affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi, and follows a curriculum aligned with NCERT guidelines, thoughtfully enriched through continuous research and analysis.

Our CBSE-aligned programmes foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning. With a student-centric approach, we blend interactive methods, technology integration, and real-world applications. Continuous assessments, personalized guidance, and diverse co-curricular activities ensure holistic growth, empowering students for future success.

[A] Grade wise Curriculum
At the Pre-Primary level, the Play Way Method forms the cornerstone of learning, enabling children to absorb foundational concepts in language and numeracy. This approach is complemented by experiential activities such as field visits, nature walks, cultural celebrations, project-based learning, and basic scientific exploration—nurturing curiosity through a learning-by-doing philosophy.

For Classes I to III, a theme-based curriculum is adopted, integrating subjects around real-life contexts. This interdisciplinary model encourages students to perceive connections across domains, thereby strengthening comprehension, creativity, and application.

Mathematics education from Nursery to Class V emphasizes its relevance and elegance in daily life. Through hands-on activities and explorations, students develop critical thinking, logical reasoning, and abstract problem-solving skills, reducing dependency on rote learning and textbooks.

For Classes VI- X, though NCERT textbooks remain the foundation, the pedagogical approach, designed in collaboration with subject experts, is interactive, project-driven, and application-oriented—making learning dynamic and engaging.

For Classes XI-XII – We offer only Science stream with the subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Informatics Practice for subject specialization.

Classes IX- XII, students are guided into career exploration pathways along with academics, equipping them to align academic choices with future aspirations.

[B] Teaching Learning Approach
Growing Through Experience – Hand on activities & Learning by Doing.

Innovative Methodology – Learning experience to make education more engaging through virtual learning platforms.

Collaborative Learning - team-based activities, shared knowledge exchange.

Interactive and Conceptual Teaching - Tailored instruction, focused mentorship, enabling students to understand concepts in a real-world context.

[C] Assessment and Evaluation
At CIS, academic assessment is designed to ensure holistic growth, aligned with NCERT and CBSE guidelines while reflecting international best practices.

For Pre-Nursery to Class II, students are not subjected to formal examinations. Instead, progress is measured through a Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system. Assessments include worksheets, oral discussions, creative projects, theme-based activities, and learning outcome tasks, ensuring joyful and meaningful learning.

From Classes III to XII, the academic year is divided into two terms. Students are evaluated through multiple tools—quizzes, assignments, subject enrichment activities, art-integrated projects, practicals, and written assessments.

For Classes IX–XII, the framework integrates both internal assessments and CBSE-directed evaluations. Class X and XII culminate with the CBSE Board Examinations, which combine theoretical, practical, and project-based components.

Co-scholastic growth is equally emphasized through clubs, competitions, and group activities. This balanced assessment framework nurtures critical thinking, creativity, applied knowledge, and values, preparing students for real-life challenges.

[D] Learning Beyond Boundaries
At CIS Pune, co-curricular activities form an essential part of holistic learning, nurturing multiple intelligences—linguistic, logical, creative, interpersonal, and more. Students explore sporting and non-sporting opportunities through intra-school, inter-school, and developmental formats that build confidence, teamwork, and leadership. Clubs, CCA, and SUPW sessions encourage innovation, self-expression, and social responsibility, while field trips and excursions provide enriching real-world experiences. Interactive guest sessions and the Student Leadership & Life Skills Programme further strengthen resilience and self-awareness. Celebrating festivals and cultural events instills respect for traditions, fostering balanced, confident, and environmentally conscious individuals.
