Admissions

Students coming from outside India / Maharashtra / Pune must bring a School Leaving Certificate & entire details of their grades previously passed from their Ex school and all the sets of exam results. Parents please note that the admission made provisionally without submission of documents will be treated as cancelled, if the necessary documents are not submitted within 15 days from the date of provisional admission. For fresh admission (Preprimary to Class I) parent must submit original Birth Certificate. For (Class II and above) parent must submit the original Leaving Certificate of the child from the recognized school duly counter signed by the competent authority along with the progress report.

Admission Process
All the admissions are given subject to fulfilment of admission criteria and availability of seats.
Parents please read the Admission Information Booklet and other details carefully.
Submission of Admission Form by the Parent / Guardian does not guarantee the Admission. Admission can be confirmed only if entire fees are paid and accepted by the school. All the other documents / formalities need to be completed at the school's office.
All Admissions to the School are a privilege and not a right, Rights of Admission are reserved with the school management and school management can accept or reject any admission without assigning any reason what so ever.


Important information, rules and regulations for parents and students:
Parents are requested to read the contents of the school Diary carefully and in the interest of the child abide by the rules & regulations laid down by the school.
It is essential for all parents to download the official school app and regularly update all personal data changes from time to time. The parents profile tab will be checked during entry to the school campus and before handing over your ward in case you are coming personally to pick your ward from school.
Parents must register their permanent email, mobile phone number/ landline number with the school to which all the official communication and other alerts/ updates will be sent. In case of any change in the personal contact details, parents must notify the changed Email id /contact number in writing immediately.
Student of all grades will not be allowed to leave the school early on the plea of attending private coaching classes or competitions, exams etc.
Parents should ensure that their wards adheres to the school uniform strictly. Students accompanying their parents during PTM days must also come in school uniform.
All major information and updates related to school will be emailed and/or shared via the official school app.
In case of emergency message may be communicated at the school reception telephonically.
Phone calls from parents for any teacher or student regarding academic update /homework/ leaves/ late coming / early going will not be entertained.
Parents who make independent transport arrangements for their ward by hiring private vehicles will be fully responsible for the same. They must ensure that proper verification of drivers is done and all safety measures are taken to avoid any untoward incident.
Parents are requested to sign the reports, test papers, teacher’s remarks in the notebooks/school Diary so that they are abreast with the progress of their child. They are also requested to visit the teachers whenever called or on PTMs and orientation programs.
Please do not send your child to school if he/she is feeling unwell. A proper application or Medical Leave with doctor certificate must be submitted by the parents via email.
Parents should carry out their responsibilities as joint educators in instilling in their children respect and strict adherence to all school rules.
Apart from the training given by the school, students are expected to devote some time regularly at home. Supervision of the same should be arranged.
Parents Kindly ensure that all the details required in the school Diary are completed on time.
Parents are requested to send the perforated form (Student's Personal Record) from the school diary duly filled and signed by the parents to the class teacher.
Parents are requested to silent / airplane mode their mobile phone while entering the school premises.
Parents are requested not to send sweets, toffees or any other eatables to celebrate their ward's birthday. It will be a good gesture to contribute one book to the school library.
Safety and security of our students is the prime concern of the school and the schools will take all steps to ensure the same. However, there are certain unforeseen incidents / accidents which are beyond the control of the school authorities when students are in the school premises and/or take part in any indoor, outdoor activities including but not limited to picnics , excursions, school gatherings, functions etc. or any other activity that may be conducted by the school as a part of learning and if some untoward incident / accident occurs for that the responsibility, liability will not be on the school management, authorities. The school management, authorities will not be held responsible for any loss or damage or injury of whatsoever nature caused to the student inside/outside the school. The school management, authorities will be indemnified from any and all liabilities, claims, suit, demands, costs, interest, expense and judgments arising from such incident, accident including but not limited to any accident or injury to the students and the costs of medical expenses.
City International School’s Management reserves the right to amend / add/ delete / change any and /or all rules at any time without any prior notification.
City International School’s Management’s decision will be final and binding upon all stake holders i.e. students, parents, staff etc. for each and every day to day and policy matters.


Parent Teacher Association

The Parent-Teacher Association is set up as per the guidelines provided by the Government. The General Body of the Forum is constituted of all the parents whose children are studying in the school. The Executive Committee of the Association is a nominated body represented by parents and teachers of the school. Principal of the school is the ex-officio President of the Association. PTA plays a pivotal role in making decisions from time to time regarding the welfare of the school students. PTA facilitates closer association between parents and teachers in their effort to make the school an ideal place for the all-round education of our children. It also offers parents a platform to express their views freely and frankly, thereby involving them in a process of mutual participation aimed at the welfare of the students studying at CIS.


Our Expectations from Parents & Guardians

Parents must realize that school is a second home for children. They need all the considerations in their favour by way of safety and security, love and co-curricular work. It is from this point of view that we expect parents and guardians to follow the guidelines and rules given below meticulously.

Parents are expected to go through the school calendar carefully and make a note of important dates and events, especially parent-teacher meetings, tests and examinations. We expect the parents to come in large numbers and meet the concerned teachers to discuss not only the academic progress but also other areas of personality development like behaviour, discipline etc.
Wearing of fancy shoes, jewellery, unruly hair etc is not permitted at school. Skirt hemlines are to be knee-length.
Parents/Guardians are not permitted to enter class rooms to meet their children or to seek unscheduled interviews with teachers during school hours. Prior appointment for meeting the staff must necessarily be taken through schools official Email.
In case of emergency, parents/guardians must meet the Principal.
Relatives / tuition teachers are not allowed to Meet students, teachers, staff at the school and / or during PTM’s etc.
Parents are encouraged to use the services of official contractual school bus / van operator. Parents should not use unlicensed and illegal bus / van / rickshaw operators. Auto rickshaws with improvised seating for many young children are an illegal and dangerous mode of transportation and are totally banned by the Government.
Pick up point for private commuters are at the school gate. Relatives, driver or family friend are not allowed to pick the students from the school without prior written intimation from the parents.
Once the student has entered the school premises, parents and guardians are not permitted to take him/her back home during the school hours unless there is a major emergency. In such cases, the permission of the Principal is mandatory. Lunch boxes and water bottles are not allowed to be sent for students once they have entered the school premises.
Parents and guardians must know that our school teachers are not allowed to take private tuitions. Parents should not request the teachers of our school to accept private tuition for their wards. The official Principal’s email id may be used to inform any irregularity in this regard.
Parents and guardians must immediately inform the school in case there is a change in their residential address, contact number, email.
Any communication that parents wish to make with the teachers/staff of the school must be addressed to the official school email id only.
No student and / or Parent shall indulge, participate, promote any type of agitation direct or indirect i.e. Andolan, protest, social media campaign etc. with or without the help of Political parties, NGO’s, associations, forums, public at large or any other entity for their grievance or complaint, suggestions, demand, opinion related to any and every school matter and schools policies eg. Fees, timetable, expulsion, retention of student in a class, disciplinary action by the school against student, staff or parent. Any students and / or parents found indulging in the same will be expelled permanently from the School by issuing report card, TC / LC with immediate effect without assigning any reason, explanation what so ever. The decision of the School management shall be final and binding to all the stakeholders.
Parents must reinforce the values of empathy, respect, and accountability, which are essential for students development both inside and outside the classroom to avoid the growing concern regarding instances of arrogance and disrespectful behaviour displayed by students towards teachers and fellow classmates.
Parents must have open conversations with their children about the importance of treating everyone—peers and educators with dignity and courtesy at all times.
The use of gadgets, including mobile phones, is strictly prohibited within the classroom and school premises. These rules are in place to minimize distractions, ensure student safety, prevent the use of unfair means linked to social media engagement, and protect students from potential mental health impacts etc.
Parents must Monitor or supervise their child’s digital or social media activity, guide them in responsible and safe use of the internet and have open conversations about the risks and long-term consequences of sharing personal content online.
Last but not the least, we expect parents and guardians to be cordial and polite with the teachers, staff of the school at all times. Parents are also requested to maintain a proper dress code while entering the school premises.


School Discipline

Discipline is the law of nature. Without it, nothing works. Inculcating discipline amongst children is the most significant aspect of education and is not confined to school alone. Parents, too, must co-operate with the school in observing these rules:

Attendance is compulsory for celebration of National Days.
Irregular attendance, unjustified or unexplained absence from school, habitual late coming, leaving the school premises without permission, disobedience and any type of unruly behaviour, act of violence, bullying other students and objectionable behaviour in school premises and on social media platforms are considered to be grave acts of indiscipline on the part of a student which can lead to his/her permanent expulsion from the school.
The school uniform, only in prescribed school color, should be clean and smart, and should be worn on all working days and functions. Actions will be taken against students who are habitually improperly dressed.
Students on their way to and from the school are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible manner. Being on the road in any mode of transport entails caution, care and attention to safety rules.
Students who expect to reach home late after the school due to personal reasons must inform their parents/ guardians in advance.
Students are expected to take proper care of the school property. It is for their convenience. They should not break any item of furniture and fixtures, equipments within the school.
They should not write, scratch or engrave graffiti on desks, chairs, classroom or washroom walls and other surfaces.
They should not damage or use things belonging to other students.
Damage done even by accident must be reported at once to the Principal/ Supervisor/ Teachers. Anyone who notices something damaged must report the matter to any of the personnel mentioned above.
If a student causing damage to the school property is identified, he/she will be charged for the damage along with fine.
In the event of collective damage to school property in a classroom, the entire class occupying that classroom will have to bear the cost of damages with fine and punitive action.
The school is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings. It is not advisable for students to bring valuables to the school.
Parents are requested not to give high amounts to their ward. If for some reason, she/he carry large amount of money, written information must be sent to school via email.
Running and shouting in the school premises is not allowed. While using staircases and corridors, all must keep to the left. Loitering in the lobby and the office areas is strictly forbidden even during recess.
Students are strictly forbidden from purchasing eatables from unauthorized vendors/hawkers near or outside the school gate.
Contribution, collection of monies is not allowed to be made in the school.
At the end of each academic year, final report card will be shared online through the school app/email.
Bus monitors and Bus staff are responsible for orderly behaviour in the bus. They must ensure that only those students who hold a valid bus pass travel in the bus. Any unruly and in disciplined behaviour while travelling in the bus will result in withdrawal of the bus facility.
It is compulsory for all students to attend the assembly.
All our students should observe high standards in their general get up, deportment and conduct.
Use of foul, unparliamentarily language is punishable.
In order to acquire competency in spoken English, all students must converse in English while they are in school.
Using unfair means in a test or examination is a grave offence. A student who is found using unfair means will be awarded zero in the subject and will be issued a strict warning. Repetition of the same offence will result in his/her expulsion from the school.
Students are not permitted to use cellular phones and gadgets in the school premises. If a student uses a mobile phone, gadget, I pad in the school without prior permission, it will be confiscated for a period of one months and a fine will be imposed. Students are not allowed to use school phones without permission. Students cannot be called to the school offices to attend to phone calls during school hours. However, in case of emergency, the telephone may be used by the students.
Misbehaviour inside the school premises or in the school conveyance may also lead to disciplinary action against the concerned student. Objectionable behaviour, use of abusive language, discourtesy and disrespect to the teachers, disobedience and irregular attendance will also lead to strict disciplinary action.
Under no circumstances will crackers, fireworks, firearms and any other inflammable material be permitted in school. A student indulging in any act of indiscipline could be suspended / expelled from the school.
Bunking classes or school is strictly prohibited.
Writing on shirt/uniform is punishable.
To ensure discipline and adherence to rules of the school for creating a safe & secure environment for all our stake holders, our school follows a strict disciplinary warning and action system for handling any / all misbehaviour. If a student misbehaviour is noted for the first time, for minor misbehaviour / indiscipline or if the student does not comply with the rules, regulations and expectations of the school then a red warning card will be made in the name of the student, and or a suspension of half day upto 7 days depending on the misbehaviour / indiscipline noted, other legal action / compliance can be initiated against the student as per Management policy and Government statute. Students can be directly expelled from the school depending on the seriousness of misbehaviour / indiscipline.
If a student misbehaviour is noted for the second time or if the student does not comply with the rules, regulations and expectations of the school then a black warning card will be made in the name of student along with other disciplinary actions such as suspension from school from 1 working day upto 15 working days depending on the misbehaviour / indiscipline noted, other legal action / compliance can be initiated against the student as per Management policy and Government statute. Students can be directly expelled from the school depending on the seriousness of misbehaviour / indiscipline.
If a student misbehaviour is noted for the third time or if the student does not comply with the rules, regulations and expectations of the school then strict action will be taken against the student and the student will be expelled from the school, other legal action / compliance can be initiated against the student as per Management policy and Government statute.

The following actions shall invite disciplinary action as per the above card system:

Use of abusive or inappropriate language
Writing, scribbling or marking on uniform, furniture, or school property
Carrying costly articles (watches, jewellery, cameras, electronic gadgets, etc.) without permission
Carrying large amounts of money to school
Linking names or spreading rumours and religious hate / racism about others in the school or on social media.
Bullying or intimidating any student or staff member
Disfiguring, damaging or destroying school property
Bunking or skipping classes without permission
Bringing mobile phones, iPads, iPods, PSPs or similar devices without prior written permission of the Principal
Using violence in any form
Harming or attempting to harm any person, property or oneself
Damaging, scribbling on or tearing pages from library books, textbooks or notebooks
Bringing sharp or injury-causing articles such as guns, knives, paper cutters etc.
Misconduct, indiscipline or misbehaviour in school transport
Using Holi colours, bursting crackers or indulging in similar unsafe activities.


Any other act of misbehaviour or indiscipline not listed above shall also be dealt with strictly under the same disciplinary framework.



Leave Rules For Students
No Half Day Leave is permitted. In case of any family function or other program, parents are requested not to send the child to the school.
Children are expected to attend school regularly. All students are expected to log in a minimum attendance of 95% of the total working days in the academic session. As such, no leave of absence is granted unless parents/guardians submit an application well in advance on plausible grounds for absence.
In case of sickness for any period of time, a Medical Certificate must be attached with the leave application.
Student suffering from infectious diseases such as Chicken Pox, Cholera, Measles, Mumps, Whooping- Cough, Swine Flu and Jaundice must observe the prescribed period of Quarantine, and on returning to school, should produce a fitness certificate permitting him/her to do so.


Rules and process to withdraw the admission
Withdrawal of a student from the school is necessitated under certain circumstances either in the student’s family or in the school itself. The norms followed in this respect are given below. Parents must read these norms carefully and comply with them.
If a student needs to be withdrawn from the school, the parents/ guardians of that student need to follow the procedure as mentioned under the Fee Refund policy.
A student can also be asked, by the school, to be withdrawn on academic or disciplinary grounds including submission of false information to the school at the time of admission. Disciplinary action may even involve expulsion. School Management’s decision in such matters is final.
Misbehaviour on the part of parents/guardians with any member of the school staff may also lead to withdrawal of the student from the school.
Transfer Certificate (TC) on withdrawal is issued only after all the school dues are cleared by the parents/guardians and the filled LC form needs to be submitted to school office.


Fee Refund Policy
For seeking withdrawal of admission, a parent needs to give one month’s written notice prior to start of next Quarter / next academic year; mid Quarter withdrawal is not allowed and will be permitted only in circumstances below mentioned.
Refund of Quarterly Fees will only arise in below mentioned cases where there is mid- Quarter withdrawal. In rest of the cases, mid-Quarter withdrawal will not be allowed.
Refund on withdrawal of admission will only be done for students non attended quarters in below mentioned circumstances on submission of documentary evidence: Transfers of Parent to different district/city/state – Parent have to submit proof of transfer viz. their transfer letter/appointment letter for new location and proof of admission of student in new school. Parents are advised to apply for the Transfer Certificate (TC) in February, before the commencement of the new academic session in any such case. A one-month notice is required to obtain the TC. If the application is made after the new academic session begins, the parent will be required to pay the school fee for the new academic year. Example: If a parent applies for a TC in April, school fees for the new academic year will be applicable. Refund of non-attended Quarter Fees is subject to approval by the School Management.
Health Reason - A doctor’s certificate justifying the withdrawal must be submitted along with the LC application form. A one-month notice is required to obtain the TC.
Demise of the Student - Fee will be refunded for the month in which student has not attended even a single day in the month. Notice period clause will not apply in this case.
Any other reason for mid-quarter withdrawal must be submitted with valid justification and is subject to approval by the School Management.


School Fees Payment Policy and Rules
Parents are well aware that City International School is a private unaided institution and parents shall pay all the prescribed school fees on time without requesting and/or applying for any fees concession and or waiver.
In addition to annual school fees parents need to bear the expense of books to be used, the transportation, educational tour and excursion, fees for public / board examination, annual concert and other consequential expenses related to the education of the child.
If the fees are not paid on time and/ or before the due date and/or cheque dishonoured and /or short payment then in that case late payment charges per month will be applicable.
In case of any cheque towards payment of school fees is dishonoured, the management reserves the right to de-enrol the student at its discretion and levy any other penalty as it may deem fit and incase parent choose to withdraw the child from the school, it will result in school not being able to offer the same seat to some other parents child who may have been desirous of seeking admission in the school and hence the fees once paid shall not be refunded and if not paid shall have to be paid, failing which, parents shall not be entitled to demand for the school leaving certificate.


School Library Rules
The library is a quiet zone. Maintain silence at all times to avoid disturbing others.
Students must carry their school diary to borrow books.
One book may be issued at a time for a period of 7–14 days, depending on school policy.
Books must be returned or renewed on or before the due date to avoid a late fine.
Reference books, magazines, and newspapers are to be read within the library and cannot be issued.
Handle all books and materials with care. Damaged or lost books must be replaced or paid for by the student.
Students should use bookmarks instead of folding pages.
Return books to the designated return area; do not shelve them yourself.
Disciplinary action may be taken for violating library rules.
Students are encouraged to use the library regularly and develop good reading habits.
The readers shall not sub-lend the books issued by the library.


Transport Rules
The School transport arrangement is optional for the students. The school has tied up with independent school bus/vans vendor contractors as per the Maharashtra Government (Department of School Education and Sports) Govt. Regulation (G.R.) /s PRE-2008 / 506/11) Part –I dated 14 September 2011. Parents desirous of availing the transport facility may do so.
Parents are expected to co-operate with the school bus vendor contractor by ensuring that their children travelling in the buses report at their embarking points well on time, behave in a disciplined way, in the interest of their own safety as well as that of the other students.
In case of any problem or any mishap, the parents are advised to avoid any altercation with drivers and conductors. They should immediately contact the bus contractor. The school will ensure appropriate action in such circumstances. For any information whatsoever, parents are expected not rely on any information that they may get from drivers and conductors. For information related to their wards and academic process, timing or working days, they should contact the school directly.
Students are not allowed to travel in any other bus route except their own route.
The bus drivers are authorized to stop the bus only at the designated stops. The bus will not wait for latecomers.
Application forms for availing bus facility & discontinuation are given at the back of the school diary and should be submitted in the school office.
Students are expected to behave in a courteous manner. Be seated when the bus is in motion. No student is allowed to stand on the footboard.
Avoid throwing any thrash/food inside or outside the bus.
